Details: | SUMMARY: Five temporary routine distribution samples positive for coliform DETAILS: I conducted a site visit to review possible issues for on going positive coliform tests. Dave felt that dosing the tank was not effective due to short circuiting of water flow in the tank. The cover is located over the tank outlet which makes it difficult to effectively dose the tank. Dave is going to shock chlorinate the well instead to get better dosing in the tank. The well head is located approximately 1000 feet to the east of the tank. The homes are approximately 800 feet from the tank. System has a temporary bypass of two large Grundfoss pumps. The pump motors burned out last year. A submersible pump was installed then piped to two pressure tanks, then to the system. This has been in place for a year but was only intended to be a temporary resolution to keep water flowing. The outlet pipe from the tank is leaking and there is a small gap in the top for the pump wires. He submitted a source sample and was to provide with a Tier 2 public notice. He will be shocking the system today. And will take a special sample after it has been flushed. He was instructed to submit five temporary samples before November 30 ACTION NEEDED: Wait for results. Monitor test results of the five temporary routine distribution samples to be submitted in November. | ||
