| Details: | SUMMARY: Call regarding radiological monitoring DETAILS: Peary called because his lab informed him that their system needs to do Gross Alpha monitoring quarterly, and that was news to him. I checked with Ramona Quinn at Klamath Co, who pointed out their system had never submitted any Gross Alpha samples (hence the quarterly sampling to start). However, they did submit samples for the other two radiologicals twice (radium and uranium, non detects each time), and the database now says the sampling interval for those 2 rads has been rolled back to every 9 years. Those two sets of ND samples allowed the monitoring reduction for radium and uranium. However, they still need submit Gross Alpha samples from different calendar quarters, and if two samples are Non Detect, the interval for Gross Alpha sampling can also be rolled back. I called Peary back with this information.I asked Peary if he had checked with the SWS certification folks in Portland, as there is still no one on record as a certified operator for this system. He said the phone number he had for them was disconnected. I told him Id send him the contact information.Also asked whether the new well drilled last year is in service yet. He said no, the owner has to wait until he saves up enough money to hook it up. ACTION NEEDED: Email Peary the contact information for the small water system certification staff in Portland - it turns out I had mis-typed the phone number when I emailed it to him a few weeks ago.Ramona Quinn is still following up to get the database entries corrected for L&C samples (one sample from 2010 that should have been invalidated before a replacement sample was submitted in early 2011), and to see whether Alan Harris should be listed as a certified operator for this system. | ||
