Details: | SUMMARY: SWTR assistance - elevated turbidity DETAILS: Bob called to report that PGE Beaver had elevated NTUs due to a coagulant dosing problem. From about 920 a to 10 a on 4/5, system spiked up to 1.165 NTU. The sand filter was backwashed around 11 am, and the filter plant turned off at 1115 am. Systems chlorine residuals > 1 ppm and CTs met during this time (CT of 59 with CT required of 44), with detectable chlorine residual in the distribution system - around 1.2 mg/L. I indicated that the maximum turbidity MCL is 1 MCL, (1.49 with significant digits), so given the resolution on PGEs Combined chart recorder the actual MCL had not been exceeded, and no boil water notice is necessary at this time. System will be taking off plant for some time (week or two) and Bob will inform me when treatment plant back on-line again. ACTION NEEDED: DWP to support PGE Beaver in filling out April monthly surface water reporting form for NTU and CTs. |
