Details: | SUMMARY: Corrective Actions - DBP DETAILS: I called Mark to discuss current status of corrective actions for elevated DBPs. The levels of DBPs in the 12/13/11 and 3/19/12 monitoring events are substantially reduced from the last few quarters of sampling. It appears that the corrective actions initiated in late November/early December of 2011 are having the desired effect. I strongly encourage Mark to remain vigilent regarding continuation of the corrective action activities. These activities include: bi-monthly flushing of water lines in problem areas, daily monitoring of chlorine residuals throughout the City to keep them as low as possible, UV 254 on raw water, and completion of pilot study by WesTech relating to chemical use and change of coagulant (ACH) on new membrane composition (PVDF-- polyvinylidenedifluoride). Pilot study should be complete by the end of April. Also reminded Mark that as long as RAA for DBPs remain above MCL, they must issue public notice. ACTION NEEDED: District needs to issue public notice. Wait for 2nd quarter DBP monitoring results. |
