Details: | SUMMARY: Regulatory Assistance DETAILS: Fred Kalish and Evan Hofeld with the Oregon Drinking Water Program provided on-site assistance with determining CT, measuring chlorine residual and turbidity, and with development of the Emergency Response Plan. At the time of the site visit, the UV status indicator indicated the system was working fine (solid green lights on display panel), the filter effluent turbidity was 0.7 NTU, the differential pressure across the Harmsco filter was 4 psig, which is less than the 12 psid that would prompt filter replacement. The the entry point chlorine residual was 0.8 mg/l, however, a chlorine residual reading from earlier in the day indicated a residual of 1.0 mg/l, which resulted in a CT of 15 at a temperature of 10 deg C, exceeding the required CT of 6 for 4.0-log viral inactivation at a pH of 5.9. Clarifications were made on filling out the monthly operating report and assistance was provided on completing the emergency response plan. ACTION NEEDED: System to continue to monitor turbidity and CT as required and complete the emergency response plan. |
