Details: SUMMARY: Confirmed Ecoli update DETAILS: Silas contacted me with their plan to address the contaminated source (Well #1). Theyare discontinuing use of well #1 (EP-A) and activating well #2 (EP-B). Four 120gallon contact chambers will be installed at well #2 and and WS will begin 4-logdisinfection with sodium hypochlorite. The minimum chloring residual is 0.57ppm.The WS will conduct compliance monitoring. Because both wells are considered to beinadequately constructed, the 4-log disinfection treatment is only a temporarycorrective measure to remove the boil water requirement. The WS plans on repairingone of the wells OR drilling a new well to make permanent corrections. Plan reviewfor the disinfection system has been waived by OHA DWP because it is onlytemporary. Plan review will be required for reconstruction or drilling of a new well.The WS has also been instructed to take 5 confirmation raw water samples from well#2 to confirm E. coli (according to Melvin Olson, a special sample taken in July 2012from well #2 had E. coli detections).Action Needed: ACTION NEEDED: Send entry structure diagram to the state updating well activity status. Add treatment code D-361 to EP-B
