Details: SUMMARY: Repeat sample and source Ecoli positive DETAILS: see contact report of 12/26 for prior events12/27 Confirmed theyd distributed Tier 1 notice and sent copy to state. They are supplying bottled drinking water to all residents. Confirmed w/ D Hough that five more source samples are now due.Paid a site visit to investigate further. Steve had reported he was having trouble using the chlorine test kit. He will take five more source samples on 12/28. Lab will give him the results back on 12/29.house. This is an area of artesian wells and springs. ACTION NEEDED: Reviewed sampling technique and test kit use. Steve mentioned that he wasnt having to refill the chlorinator reservoir very often. When it kicked on, it fed for only a short cycle. We tested NO measureable chlorine from the nearest treated tap using his kit and mine. This has probably been underfeeding for some time. Moreover, most of the bleach in the chlorinator is now several months old, becaause of the low draw rate. The storage reservoirs are both 1500 gallons, interconnected to act as one, and are nearly always full, suggesting treated water may sit there long enough for chlorine to dissipate, especially in the slow season. We upped the feed rate on the chlorinator and and within about 30 minutes were able to get a residual of about .5 in the nearest tap. Operator will continue to check residual at end tap and adjust back as necessary until the residual normalizes.12/28/12 Located a log for the well, ran calculations for shock chlorinating dosages on well and delivery line, supplied both to operator. He took in the additonal well samples this morning, as well as a special sample from distribution. He is continuing optimize chlorine residuals. Will await sample results but is planning to shock the well over the weekend.I
