Details: | SUMMARY: COLI11528 e. coli present in source sample 2-18-13 DETAILS: Called Jeff and he stated that the well had been shocked since noon and boil notice posted at any place water from this system was available to public (like toilet rooms) and any place general staff might use water (like utility room). I gave him my office fax # so he could send the notice to me today. Jeff confirmed he had a test kit to measure chlorine strength and said it was ranging from 2-4 ppm in clubhouse. I suggested adding another quart of bleach to the tank at least through the night. Jeff confirmed he had a chlorinator ready to put back on line and was concerned about the variables between dose of chlorine feed and chlorine strength. I explained he would need to practice controlling this so by the time shock water from the 5,000 gallon tank cleared, that chlorine could range from 0.5 ppm up to <4.0 ppm in the clubhouse. Within a few days he should be able to maintain at 0.5 ppm before considering if CT would justify a lower concentration. Jeff asked about follow up source samples. I told him that if the system is amenable to provide 4 log viral disinfection with chlorine that source sampling was mute. Next sample due is the quarterly routine between April and June. I agreed to let him know if any other sampling requirements were pending. ACTION NEEDED: Shock tank overnightGet chlorine in distribution between 0.5-4.0 ppm | ||
