Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up for elevated uranium results DETAILS: I talked to Michelle Byrd. The lab in Wyoming confirmed the results by retesting the existing water sample they had. Came back with very similar numbers. She is worried by the odd nature of this. Wants another sample taken to confirm findings of uranium levels. This year all are positive for detection with uranium popping the MCL. Michelle and I talked about a tier 2 notice to residence. Michelle is working with geology folks on an answer from their side. Also in contact with the toxicology folks about creation of neuro toxins in the water? Is it a possibility? I called Teresa at Umpqua Lab and gave her a heads up. Then called and talked to Gary about the test results. I told him and Teresa to take a confirmation sample ASAP. Gary will go out and look around to see if anything is amiss. Told Gary to plan on quarterly samples until issue is resolved and to start working up a public notice in case the confirm sample is positive. Drove to Redmond office to get the system file. ACTION NEEDED: Will verify that results are correct and applied to correct system. Will require confirmation samples and if still high, quarterly sampling until returned to compliance. If verified will get Gary public notice template for chemicals and uranium health affects information. | ||
