Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up on Portland Joint Monitoring Program lead action level exceedance DETAILS: I spoke with Keely after the Portland Joint Monitoring Program exceeded the lead action level of 0.015 mg/L at the 90th percentile of samples collected during the July - December 2013 period of 0.0159 mg/L. Gresham conducts annual mailing of the lead public education brochure and will be broadening distribution due to the recent exceedance. Specifically, DWS accepts Portland Water Bureau (PWB) submitting the press release to newspaper, TV and radio, and implementing public service announcements, paid advertisements, targeted individual customer contact, on behalf of Gresham as long as Gresham specific customers are contacted. I reviewed the Citys lead public education brochure and indicated it meets the requriements of OAR 333-061-0034 (5)(a), with the comment that the new federal summary of lead reduction and the updated definition of lead free fixtures effective 1/4/14 be reflected as appropriate. ACTION NEEDED: City to ensure that any specific Gresham newspapers be included in the press release. DWS forwarded an email to the City outlining the lead public education requirements as a result of the exceedance on 1/15. DWS to provide support and continue to field questions from the City. | ||
