| Details: | SUMMARY: Response to main line break DETAILS: Jim called at 10 am on 5/5 to notify me that a short section of main broke on 5/4 and that approximately 300 connections were out of water in the west end of E. Columbia River Historic Highway and in area of Lucas, Northway, Neilsen and Woodard Roads. District utilized automated calls on Sunday 5/4 to notify affected users of a boil water notice. Cause of main line split is unknown, Jim thinks its due to lack of tracer wire or gravel bedding, given age of this section of main line. The fact that it is the only main in this area is the reason for the 300 affected connections. Area of main line fixed, system flushed, pressures restored and chlorine residuals up to 2 mg/L in area, all on 5/4. System to collect special coliform samples today (5/4) and consult with DWS prior to lifting notice. ACTION NEEDED: District to continue to follow DWS Best Management Practices to address main break. DWS to offer support to assist District in lifting localized boil water notice, and to minimize such loss of positive pressure events in the future. | ||
