Details: | SUMMARY: Three repeat samples and one triggered sample sample were collected on 6-10-14 following a routine sample on June 9, 2014. Two of the repeat samples and the triggered sample were both total coliform and E. coli positive. One repeat sample was negative for both total and E.coli. DETAILS: I spoke with Lisa Anheluk of the USFS (Deschutes National Forest) about the repeat sample results. Lisa said that they would dissemble the hand pump, repair any needed parts, disinfect the pump and take special samples to verify that the problem had been corrected prior to allowing the water to be use. This hand pump is the only source of water in the campground-- so, with the pump removed from service, the public will not be at risk of receiving contaminated drinking water. I also talked with Betsy Parry of the DWP about following two questions. One, is a "Boil Water Order or Notice" needed? Secondly, What type of Public Notice is needed since an MCL did occur but the public is not consuming the water? Betsy, said that she would write a draft Public Notice and send it to USFS. ACTION NEEDED: Continue planned actions including special sampling after corrective actions are taken to the well and hand pump. Notify KCEHD with special samples are taken so we will be looking for the results on the DWP database. |
