Details: SUMMARY: Follow up on cross connection control assembly complaint DETAILS: DWS received a phone complaint on 7/15 from Corbett customer that the District converted a reduced pressure backflow assembly to a double check in the vault at the mainline connection to an irrigation line to water the high school football field. The individual also complained that the 3-inch service line went through a drainfield. I spoke with Jim Jans, CWD Manager on 7/16 to follow up complaint. Jim indicated that a Watts 907 RP was changed to a Watts 709 double check model to irrigate the field without any chemical addition and the drainfield was at least 300 feet away from the waterline. Jim indicated that the DC is appropriate given that there is no irrigation with chemical addition which is called out in Table 48 of OAR 333-061-0070 (17) as a high hazard requiring an RP/air gap. Jim indicated that the assembly is tested annually, as required by the OARs. I verified that the Watts 709 is an approved assembly meeting USCs (Univ. of Southern Ca) approval (2014). ACTION NEEDED: No action at this time. DWS to follow up with complaintant on todays conversation with District and subsequent research.
