Details: | SUMMARY: Total coliform psotive alert from routine sample DETAILS: Chris Bishop (the primary contact) is on vacation this week. Staff at the Lakeview Intergovernmental Center directed me to Scott, also on the BLM recreation staff. Scott said the Highway Well Water System was vandalized on May 19, 2014. The system was shut off at that time, until the broken line could be repaired. The repair was completed mid-July. The system was turned on July 17 to collect a coliform sample. Someone other than their regular staff person took the sample that day, so sampling technique may be part of the positive result. The water system was immediately turned off again after collecting the July 17th sample, and will now remain off given the positive test result. Scott did not have 4 extra coliform bottles on hand for the repeat testing. ACTION NEEDED: Scott will order more sample bottles from the Grants Pass lab. I told him to always have at least 4 extra bottles on hand for this purpose. I directed him to the water systems coliform sampling plan for where to take the repeats, although Chris Bishop will probably be back by then to take over. To bring Scott up to speed, I emailed him instructions for the coliform lab form and the coliform sampling plan, plus the link to the "Small System Vulnerability Assessment & Emergency Response Plan" to help them examine their security measures in the wake of the vandalism incident. | ||
