Assistance Type: WATER QUALITY ALERT RESPONSE
Reasons: Coliform
N/A

Details: SUMMARY: Total coliform alert DETAILS: System had a positive TC but also has a system score of 9 at time of the current alert. Need to resample-3 from distribution and one from the well marked "triggered". email was sent.Thank you for your time today. The water system had a positive Total Coliform on the Dec 11 sample. With a positive TC repeat samples should be taken within 24 hours. The requirement is 3 samples from the distribution system and one directly from the well. The well sample must be marked Triggered and the other samples should be marked repeat. IF any sample is positive remediation needs to take place. Generally, this is to correct any known problem or shock chlorinate the well and post a Public Notice. To correct the situation you need to take the samples above as required and issue a PN. The PN is to be posted at the water system but there is no time frame. Once the PN is posted please send me a copy so I can forward the notice to the State and request a Return To Compliance (RTC). The RTC will not be complete until you have water samples absent. PN is for one event only so if the samples from Dec are confirmed Positive for TC that would require a second PN. The next problem is the addition of a UV unit , this needs prior approval before installation and I have attached the appropriate paperwork and must meet the following construction standards. "Non-Community water systems using only groundwater sources, and having minimal distribution systems as determined by the Authority, may use ultraviolet light as the only disinfectant when total coliforms but no E. coli have been detected in the source water. The minimum ultraviolet light failsafe dosage set point shall be equivalent to 40 mW-s/cm2 (40 mJ/cm2) with a wavelength between 200 and 300 nanometers. I ACTION NEEDED: repeat samples
