Details: | SUMMARY: Assistance with coliform in the distribution system DETAILS: Mark is working with Becky from Edge Analytical to sample the system. In November, the fourth quarter routine sample was positive, one of the repeat samples was also positive. Mark shocked chlorinated the storage tank over the Thanksgiving weekend. Subsequent special samples have been taken with varied positive and absent results. The well was shock chlorinated by Dans Pump Service the week of 12/8/14. The original source sample for the well was absent. Special samples were taken once the well chlorination was complete, again with varied positive and absent results. The kitchen faucet was tested and found be positive on 12/15, it was sampled again and found to negative on 12/17, but the sink in the fourth and fifth graders room tested positve. One of the original positve samples ws from an outside hose bib. They were advised to sampling hose bibs as they arent represenative of where students and staff would normally get drinking water. We reviewed shock chlorination proceedures using to storage tank calculation tool at the DWP web-site. The system has a 4,000 gallon storage tank. Mark only added 3 cups of chlorine on his original shock chlorination. To bring the chlorine concentration to 10 ppm he should have added 12 cups of chlorine. It is now the holiday break for the school. Mark is going to shock chlorinate the storage tank using the concentration from the calculation tool. Once this is complete they will special sample prior to 12/29. If all results are absent they will submit their five temporary routine samples as required. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to monitor test results. |
