Details: | SUMMARY: HAA5 exceedence of MCL DETAILS: I spoke to Bob today about the 12/10/14 haloacetic acid (HAA5) level of 0.0754 mg/L, which exceeds the MCL level of 0.060 mg/L. This is the second consecutive quarter with HAA5 MCL exceedences. I reminded Bob that compliance is determined by a running annual average of the previous 4 consecutive quarters, so after 2nd quarter 2015. We also discussed that an operation evaluation level would be determined as a precurser to the MCL determination after three quarters of data, or after 1st quarter 2015. Bob will implement in January a recirculation regime to send disinfected water from 1st user back up to the tank to try and move more water through the tank in an attempt to reduce HAA5 levels. A disinfection benchmark profile was completed which indicated system is over-achieving CTs. Bob is concerned about dropping residuals too much so he does not lose residual in system when cant make water during winter storms and needs to go off storage in 50,000 gallon tank. ACTION NEEDED: System to implement DBP control measures in early 2015. System to collect TTHM (total trihalomethanes) and HAA5 samples during 1st quarter and 2nd quarter 2015. Further necessary action will be determined after collection of these subsequent samples. | ||
