Details: | SUMMARY: Routine Sample taken 12/17/2014 positive for fecal coliform DETAILS: Joe Anthony called. He will talk to Austin Wieneoke and got permission to check out the spring box. He will be looking for contamination/surface water infiltration. The plan is to remove the contamination and shock chlorinate-- then resample the spring. Next month they will take 5 temporary routine samples.December 30 Met Joe Anthony and his son at the spring. The spring is a concrete cylinder (4diameter) that is about 15 tall with about 4 of water in the bottom. In the last few days there was significant rain. Water was pouring through the spring at 50 gallons a minute, many times the normal flow. There was an old chlorine line going into the top of the spring. The line -full of holes- extended uphill on the ground to an abandoned chlorine feeder. There were steaks on the inside of the cement spring wall where it was leaking in. Joe removed the chlorine line and patched the hole. He also filled the holes in the top of the spring manhole cover. At the bottom of the hill where there is storage and treatment, Joe turned the flow rate down to 20 ppm and turned up the chlorinator. The UV light is rated at 20gpm. There was such high flow it seemed pointless to chlorinate at this time. ACTION NEEDED: January 5th Amy Chapman took 5 raw water samples and 1distribution sample. There was still high flow of 20 ppm. | ||
