Details:	SUMMARY: Routine coliform sample taken in December 3, 2014 positive for total coliform bacteria DETAILS: Called Bob LLewlyn and left message.2/21/2015 Emailed Bob Llewlyn. The 4 repeat samples and source water sample taken on January 20,2015 were positive for total coliform bacteria. 1 take 4 repeat samples One of these should be from the spring2 If any of the repeat samples are positive, then there is coliform bacteria in the water. 3 Public Notice must be given to the people on the system-- see attached public notice. 4 Find out where the bacteria are coming from and get them out of the system get the bacteria out of the system. A couple of examples could be: a) Chlorinate the system: This could be chlorinate the source, storage tank and lines. People typically try this. b) Install treatment: If the bacteria are in the water constantly, then the water can be treated to get the bacteria out Plan Review: If a system was going to install treatment, they would go through plan review with the state. 5 Take 5 routine samples the next month following the positive routine samples. Public Notice Done??? Do not know if you have done this or not? Attached is an example that I filled out. 4 Working on Finding the problem The samples indicate that the coliform bacteria may be coming from the spring. A one time chlorination of the spring box might be helpful. There is another spring fed water system on the Alsea that has the same problem. Seems like all the rain might have stirred up contamination in systems that usually do not have bacteria. ACTION NEEDED: At this point be sure you have put out public notice. Find the problem and get the bacteria out of the water.
