Details: | SUMMARY: Temporary Source of E.coli Contamination in Source DETAILS: Tim at Fiddlers hired Oregon Water Services (OWS) to come take a look at there well after they had a RP samples come back positive for E.coli. This system only services a set of restrooms at the golf course. OWS found the vault lid was leaking surface water ( from rain and irrigation) onto the well head were the hole for the electrical wires was not properly sealed and allowed this water to run into the well. I talked to Randy at OWS and discussed what was found along with pictures of the well vault and determined that this was the likely the source of contamination. It was noted during this time that the vault does have a working drain, and the vent on the well head was not pointed down. Tim at Fiddlers fixed the vent to point down and it does have a screen on it. He used silicone to seal the hole around the electrical wires, and also put a bead of silicone under the hinge on the vault lid to prevent water from leaking through the hinge. Tim sent pictures showing the completed fixes and stating what they did. The system has been shock chlorinated. Tim stated they will be collecting TR samples on Friday. I instructed the facility that they would need to perform monthly source sampling for 12 months following this confirmed contamination. ACTION NEEDED: Collect 5 TR samples in the distribution, monthly source sample from April 2015- March 2016. |
