Details: | SUMMARY: Brief Turbidity Spikes > 5 NTU DETAILS: Jake called to report brief turbidity spikes over 5 NTU that occurred on April 15 and 21. The spikes over 5 NTU lasted approximately 10 minutes each - cause unknown. Turbidity usually changes gradually over the course of hours. The auto-dialer malfunctioned so he was not called at the times of the spikes. I advised Jake to mark the "no" for the "All turbidity readings <5 NTU" question on the monthly report from for April. Reviewed the graphs of the turbidity spikes with region manager Kari Salis. We concurred that due to the brief nature of the turbidity spikes, they did not constitute a violation of the turbidity MCL as defined in subsection -0030(3). ACTION NEEDED: System to begin reporting 4-hour turbidity readings instead of just the highest turbidity reading of the day on the monthy report form. |
