| Details: | SUMMARY: Localized boil water notice - loss of positive pressure main break DETAILS: Jim notified me via email on 10/25 that a 10-inch PVC main broke at 8 am on 10/25. Consequently the pressure dropped to below 0 psi at the inlet to the Cabbage Hill reservoir. Roughly 300 homes in western Corbett, west of the Grange Hall, were impacted by the loss in positive pressure, and received phone calls to boil their water via a phone tree on 10/25. A localized boil water notice is approved as positive pressure was maintained outside of affected area. District repaired break in mainline, flushed affected area, restored adequate minimum 20 psi pressure and greater than 1 mg/L free chlorine residual on 10/25. Two coliform bacteria samples were then collected at the Grange Hall and at the District offices on 10/25, with results due back from the lab Tuesday 10/27 in the morning. ACTION NEEDED: District to continue to follow DWS Best Management Practices to respond to pressure outage situation, including contacting DWS upon receipt of coliform bacteria results. DWS to support District during the incident. 10/27/15: Jim called at 1 pm and notified me that both coliform samples were absent for total coliform and E. coli, and consequently the boil water notice will be lifted via a phone tree and updating the web site. | ||
