Details: | SUMMARY: Redwood Tank Maintenance and Repair DETAILS: The Panther Creek Water District owns and operates a surface water system that provides water to approximately 700 people through 326 connections. Water from Panther Creek is treated by slow sand filtration prior to disinfection with sodium hypochlorite. The system has two small reservoirs (about 5000 gallons) that are used for pump storage and contact time. Water is then pumped to a pair of reservoirs on the hill, which provide more storage. The older of the two reservoirs is a redwood tank. The Circuit Rider was contacted by Martin Klinger due to leakage at the existing redwood tank. Martin requested advice regarding tightening the tank staves. He also requested that the Circuit Rider research possible patching or lining methods. Researched maintenance for redwood tanks, specifically in regard to periodic stave tightening and leak patching. Investigated potential patching compounds and lining systems. Discussed findings with water system staff. ACTION NEEDED: None needed at this time. |
