Details: | SUMMARY: Low pressure event DETAILS: On October 6, 2015 at approximately 1 PM the City experienced a low pressure event in various regions of the city caused by an increase in flow from a mainline break in a low lying area. The break occurred at 18th and Duane St. The high flow caused the pressure in higher areas to decrease. The break was completely issolated by 1:58 PM and pressures began returning to normal within 15 minutes of the break as system PRVs compensated for the high flow and isolation valves were being put to use. The lowest recorded residual was 0.4 mg/l and the lowest pressure reading was 41 psi (although there were no recorded pressure data during the break, the City did get low pressure complaints). Four distribution samples taken in the area for in-house testing showed an absence of coliform bacteria. Coliform samples taken 10-7-15 sent to an outside lab also showed an absence of coliform bacteria. The break was repaired by 6:30 PM and placed back into service following flushing, disinfection, and test results showing an absence of coliform bacteria. ACTION NEEDED: No further action needed at this time. City was advised to take paired bacti samples if any coliform testing is done in-house to achieve rapid results. The paired sample could then be sent to the lab to validate in-house testing, which would represent the same water. | ||
