Details: | SUMMARY: Clogged process filters caused potable supply to run out of water and depressurize DETAILS: Hayley Moen called to report that their filters became clogged overnight due to high turbidity in the Columbia River. As a result, the potable supply ran out of water and depressurized. An immediate do not drink notice went out to all employees and the incident was reported to OERS (incident 2015-2791). I e-mailed Halyey the public notice template for a zero pressure boil water notice and the Best Management Practice for Service Outages Due to a Reduced Pressure Event, both of which are are available on our website at: http://public.health.oregon.gov/HealthyEnvironments/DrinkingWater/Operations/Pages/index.aspx. ACTION NEEDED: System is to refill potable supply, ensure disinfectant residual is restored and disinfection CT is met, and take samples for bacteriological analysis. The pressure and disinfection will need to be restored and sample results will need to be absent of coliform bacteria prior to rescinding the do not drink notice. System may contact the Public Health Duty Officer over the weekend at 971-246-1789 or on their pager at 503-938-6790 to reach someone in Drinking Water Services (DWS) for advice on rescinding the notice. A copy of the notice and when and how it was distributed will need to be submitted to DWS. |
