Details: | SUMMARY: Review of lead copper status DETAILS: On 8/9/15, Tony requested a reduction in monitoring after two 6-month rounds of lead and copper testing at 20 sites showed results under the action levels. The two rounds of 20 samples were collected in January and June 2015 which is actually within the same 6 month period so it shows up as 40 samples during one 6-month period. The action levels for both lead and copper have not been exceeded whether the samples are looked at as two sets of 20 or one set of 40, and the sampling rounds were separated enough to represent a cold time of year and a warmer time of year, therefore they were accepted as two rounds of monitoring. Small/medium systems can cease installation of corrosion control treatment if after completing two 6-month rounds of lead and copper monitoring at the standard number of sites, action levels for both lead and copper are under the action levels (which is the case here). Also review with Tony representative sample sites and asked him to reevaluate his sample sites and revise his sampling plan as necessary. ACTION NEEDED: Next round of lead and copper monitoring at 10 sites to occur during summer 2016 (anytime between 6/1 and 9/30). If results exceed either the lead or copper action levels at that time, system will be required to recommence installation of corrosion control treatment as well as distribute public education (lead exceedance only). |
