Details: | SUMMARY: Source Sampling DETAILS: For the time, Arago Church should be sampling raw water from the well on a monthly basis to determine if there is any e.coli or fecal contamination. According to the state’s on-line data base a violation was issued for missing this sample in November and another violation should be assessed sometime for missing the December sample. If e.coli is found as per the protocol below it will mean solely providing UV light treatment for disinfection will not be considered adequate and a change for the public water system will be required.According to what is called the ground water rule, the state appears to allow no short cuts. I only speculate that allowing a water system to follow another course than what I outline might leave the state liable if someday a water system decides one of the other choices (not necessarily evaluated) would have been more cost effective. Sorry I don’t know why chlorination is not an automatic choice. The protocol for a water system like this is included. ACTION NEEDED: 12 months of source sampling. |
