Details: | SUMMARY: Lead and Copper Sampling DETAILS: Jim Anderson e-mailed asking if they could return to reduced lead and copper tap sample monitoring in 2016. The City had exceeded the lead action level in 2010 after having several excursions of their minimum pH of 7.1 not being met earlier in the year. They had (and still have) soda ash corrosion control at the time of the lead action level exceedance in 2010. The next round of 40 tap samples was in 2013 showing that they were well below the action level (less than 1/2 the copper AL and less than 1/3rd the lead AL). After the 2010 exceedance, the City stated they were instructed by DWP staff to remain on a 3-yr schedule, but increase the number of samples to 40, which was completed in 2013. In 2014 they were told by DWP staff that they could return to 20 tap samples in 2016 - see contact report dated 1/23/14. Based on the 2013 results and meeting the minimum pH of 7.1 a majority of the time having had less than 5 excursions at any one time since January 1, 2015, the plan of allowing them to take 20 tap samples on a 3-year schedule with the next round to be taken June 1st - Sept 30th, 2016 was left unchanged. ACTION NEEDED: City to take 20 tap samples on a 3-year schedule with the next round to be taken June 1st - Sept 30th, 2016 and meet minimum pH of 7.1. |
