Details: | SUMMARY: Copper AL Alert DETAILS: Alert ID: CHEM7158On 5/31/16, we called Mr. Griffin to discuss the ‘alert’ issued for the ‘copper’ action-level exceedance (May 3-4, 2016 testing). We stated that this test result confirms our suspicion that the water is corrosive and that chemical treatment is necessary.Mr. Griffin stated that they are continuing to research means of chemical treatment. Concurrently, Mr. Griffin reported that they are continuing to trouble shoot / find mechanical explanations for the high copper levels. We also noted that one of the ‘lead’ samples measured greater than the lead action level-- we discussed this with the operator-- however, this sample exceeded the 90th percentile and did not generate an ‘Alert’.On 6/1/16, Mr. Griffin contacted our office wishing to discuss public notification requirements as well as sample site occupant test result disclosure requirements. We reviewed the rule requirements with the operator. We helped the operator develop some talking points for their annual consumer confidence report and for sample-site occupants. ACTION NEEDED: By 6/30/16, submit a corrective action plan to our office for resolving the corrosive water issue (Copper AL Exceedance).Publish a consumer confidence report (with mention of the copper exceedance and other relevant items) by 7/1/16.Disclose L&C test results to sample site occupants as soon as practical (must be within 30 days). |
