Details: | SUMMARY: Intake Failure DETAILS: The City of Oakland owns and operates a municipal water treatment system treating water from Calapooya Creek. The water treatment plant provides water for approximately 1000 people through 480 connections. The City of Oakland experienced water intake sand issues resulting from storms in December 2015 and the first storm of January 2016. In January 2016, intake became fully obstructed and the city pumps could no longer obtain and keep a prime. Sand was removed from the intake clay valves continuously and equipment was replaced due to sand damage. The clay valves, compressors, vacuum pumps, control valves and pumps have all been replaced due to sand damage. The City of Oakland Public Works does not have access to an alternate water supply. They are currently using a rental pump and small irrigation pumps. Reviewed intake condition, as-built plans and proposed fix. Discussed options and funding with City. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to assist the City with emergency intake repairs. |
