Details: | SUMMARY: Corrosion Control DETAILS: The Mt Angel Abbey has a Community Ground Water System which supplies water to 270 persons. The system had been on the 3 Year sample interval for Lead and Copper. In the tests from June 2013, the Action Level for Lead was exceeded, with a sampled result of 0.0790 mg/L (See Table 1-- Action Level is 0.0155 mg/L). At the time, the water system felt that the June 2013 sample was not valid. It was reported by Tom Reasoner that the sample location had not been used for a signifcant period before the testing. The sample site should be unused for a minimum of 8 hours. However, the sample site should be a frequently used tap which can be used for drinking water (such as a kitchen or bathroom tap). According to a letter from Carolyn Stegall, Marion County Health Department (dated 2/17/2016), a request for invalidation of the June 2013 sample was never made by the water system. So, by default, the sample is considered valid. Among other requirements, the water system is required to sample for water quality parameters, and determine proper methods to assure compliance with the Lead and Copper Rule. Provided the system with a memo which included a list of water quality parameters needed to perform corrosion control analysis. ACTION NEEDED: Provide corrosion control analysis when water quality parameters are received. |
