| Details: | SUMMARY: Alert for HAA5 OEL Exceedance Due to Nov 2016 Sample Results DETAILS: On 11/28/16, I received an alert for individual location results above the HAA5 MCL. These results caused an exceedance of the HAA5 MCL as the LRAA was 0.062 mg/l at the 1st and D street sample location due to sampling on 11/16/16. Eric Bufkin responded on 11/28/16 that he was working on the OEL report and subsequently submitted the OEL report on 12/1/16. The OEL report indicated that due to construction on a new Spur 14 source, they were unable to use their Middle Lake source, which is typically lower in organics and turbidity. The primary water source during the exceedance was Main Lake and there had been an increased level of tannic acid and reduced pH levels, which required additional chlorine at the treatment plant and at the booster stations to maintain a safe disinfectant residual. Middle Lake was brought back on-line on November 30, 2016, which has resulted in reduced tannic acid levels coming into the treatment plant. I spoke to Eric on 12/7/16 and he said he was working on a Tier 2 public notice. ACTION NEEDED: System completed OEL report and will issue Tier 2 public notice for the HAA5 MCL exceedance within 30 days. | ||
