Details: | SUMMARY: WATER TREATMENT PLANT EVALUATION DETAILS: The Circuit Rider was contacted by Melissa Dailey with CASA. CASA is assisting the residents of Umpqua Ranch with purchasing the park from the previous owner. As part of the work, CASA is evaluating infrastructure needs for the system. The Circuit Rider was contacted to provide assistance with evaluation and recommendations for the water system. Specific to this Contact Report, CASA is seeking recommendations for the existing wells. The system has 4 active wells and 3 inactive wells. The existing wells do not provide enough water to the community at all times. When the wells do not produce enough water, the system uses the emergency intake on the North Umpqua River. A new well was drilled, but this well did not produce any appreciable amount of water. It is therefore necessary for the system to review all supply options, which includes the use of the surface water source on the North Umpqua River. As part of the planning for the water source utilization, it was necessary to review the possibility of using the existing surface water treatment plant, or at least some of its components, to be in compliance with OHA regulations. There is an existing cartridge filter system. Reviewed treatment plant components for compliance with current rules and regulations. Discussed the treatment system with water system personnel. Reviewed previous documentation obtained in a previous contact tracer testing effort. ACTION NEEDED: Provide additional assistance regarding water source and operational issues. The system will need an updated O&M Manual and Emergency Response Plan. |
