Details: | SUMMARY: resident concerned about particulates, filtration DETAILS: Received complaint from resident of 80 acres. She believes particulates are clogging up her pipes and causing reduced water pressure at house. She had heard the Water Coop was no longer filtering the water, and their source is surface water. She did not get much response when speaking to the PWS contact. She thinks most everyone uses bottled water for drinking. Our DWS records do not show any water quality monitoring data since 2001. I phoned the PWS contact, Don Pedro. He said they have 10 homes, they have a chlorinator at the pumphouse, but discontinued their pressure sand filtering some time ago because it kept clogging up, in favor of having a filter at each residence. No coliform sampling since someone (Gail) left approx a year ago-- perhaps they have testing results that were not submitted to DWS. There is a meeting tonight to select new officers of the water system. I left Don a voice message later today to underscore the fact that they will need to reinstate filtration. He will bring all this up at the meeting. ACTION NEEDED: Follow up with new officers. Plan to do a site visit upon next trip to that area. |
