Details: | SUMMARY: Not treating surface water DETAILS: Original complaintant reported water system contact (Don Pedro) shouted and threatened her over the weekend. Threatened to cut off her water. If issues of personal safety, suggested she contact law enforcement. For legal rights/requirements, contact the Public Utilities Commission. Reached Don Pedro re: recent co-op meeting- there was no change in the officers, so Pres is still Don, VP is Garrett Hofmaster, Secretary/Tresurer is Kim Bishop. Don says in years past, they had tried 3 systems in a row that did not work out- their iron bacteria clogs up the filters fast. So 10 years ago, the members choose to discontinue filtration and chlorination treatment and use filters at each household, plus bottled water for drinking. They are now looking at new filtration options. I suggested OAWU as a resource, as well as considering a well or combining with the adjacent small surface water system. Boil water notice required- Don said to send materials to Kim Bishop. I emailed and regular mailed her a PN template ^ instructions, plus OARs with responsibilities of water suppliers ^ definitions of public water system and human consumption. ACTION NEEDED: Await receipt of public notice. Send letter of whats needed to get off boil notice - compliant disinfection and filtration treatment, meeting CT and reporting, and resuming coliform sampling. Inform of plan review requirements. This will all take a while. Site visit later this summer. |
