Details: | SUMMARY: COLIFORM INVESTIGATION DETAILS: Bay Aire MHP has a groundwater sourced domestic and drinking water system to serve the 50 connections (approximately 82 persons) in the park. The system has 2 wells. The Circuit Rider was contacted by the water system operator regarding repeated positive coliform tests in the distribution system. The system has 2 operating wells. Well #1 had positive Total Coliform results, as did tests in the distribution system. Upon inspection of the system, the most likely areas of concern are the pressure tank and Well #1 itself. The Well #1 sample is currently being taken following the pressure tank. The pressure tank is of the old type that relies on pressurized air, but does not have a membrane between the air and water layers. There had also been a leak repair close to Well #1. The operator was concerned that this may be the source. The repair was completed over a month ago, so this is most likely not the source. Special coliform results for Well #1 were positive, and Well #2 were negative. Kilchis Water District has a main running along Hwy 101. This is a possibility for a replacement source. In late August, it was discovered that Well #1 was running dry. This is the likely source of coliform contamination. Replacement should be considered. Reviewed results of recommended coliform testing. Visited water system again to review operation of Well #1. Also contacted Kilchis Water District regarding possibility of using them as a source. ACTION NEEDED: Provide additional assistance with coliform investigation. |
