Details: | SUMMARY: invalidation of a high lead sample DETAILS: Karen contacted us about a lead sample that was mistakenly collected at a bathtub rather than a sink at a Tier 2 lead and copper sample site. The sample came back high (she says that tub is never used at this retirement facility). She asked if this sample did not meet the site selection criteria. OAR 333-061-0036(2)(B)(ii) says residential housing shall collect lead and copper samples from the cold-water kitchen tap or bathroom sink tap. A bathtub is not a sink, so Albany may say it does not meet the selection criteria. It is still within the monitoring period, so Albany may submit a substitute sample from a kitchen or bathroom sink of the same facility, and request invalidation of the original sample when the substitute results have been submitted. ACTION NEEDED: Await substitute sample result. |
