Details: | SUMMARY: Alert on 6/6/17 Stating System Exceeded 50% of the MCL for Nitrate DETAILS: On June 5, Northwest Hazelnut received a sample result of 8.00 ppm. The firm has a history of nitrate in the well. Current MCL is 10ppm. Exceeding 50% of the MCL triggers quarterly monitoring of nitrate for a year, including a sample during the same month as the initial positive in 2008 according to OAR 333-061. I drafted an email stating the requirements and linking various factsheets and the firms yourwater.oregon.org page. I reached out to the water contact. On June 11 I heard back from the system contact of record, Jonathan Thompson, that he was no longer employed by the firm. On June 13, I left a voicemail at the main phone number for the firm. I have not been able to send the drafted email for lack of email address for the firm. On June 14 the firm provided me with a new contact. On June 15 I heard from Gregg Baird. He made me aware that the firm is already on quarterly monitoring. On June 20 I heard back from Anna Plaisted the new contact for the firm. She stated she was aware of the sample result and knew that it was below the MCL. We discussed quarterly monitoring. I followed up with an email inquiring about the condition of the Nitrate remediation equipment. On June 23 Anna replied that she had verified that the ion exchange system is functioning properly and that it has been serviced on schedule. ACTION NEEDED: The firm will continue to treat for nitrate using ion exchange. They will continue to monitor quarterly. | ||
