Details: | SUMMARY: WATER QUALITY INVESTIGATION DETAILS: The circuit rider was contacted by Jim Solvedt of the Polk County Environmental Health Department on 1/27. Mr. Solvedt requested a Lead/Copper treatment determination based on lead testing levels exceeding the MCL/AL of 0.150ppm on 07/14/2016. The lead testing in question takes place every three years and requires 10 end user locations take samples for the test. The last round of testing yielded two samples exceeding the MCL/AL for lead.We coordinated with the PDWA and collected all available data via phone and email communications. The PDWA then requested a site visit which we scheduled with them. During the site visit the PDWA representative indicated that the water district had not had any instances of elevated lead levels in prior testing and that the PDWA believed that of the two samples, that one may be due to testing error and the other due to installation of a new faucet at the sampling location. ACTION NEEDED: Per the EPA document Optimal Corrosion Control Treatment Evaluation Technical Recommendations for Primary Agencies and Public Water Systems, March 2016, Section 3.2.1, it is recommended that the PDWA begin regular monitoring of water quality. pH data from each source will be required to determine the appropriate method for corrosion control. |
