Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up to HAA5 DBP MCL single exceedance DETAILS: Discussed 0.0705 mg/L HAA5 detect from 10/25/17 that exceeded MCL of 0.060 mg/L at the Errickson Dike site (end of the distribution line). Since compliance with MCL is based on running average of 4 quarters, and the 4 quarter average is below the MCL, there is no MCL violation at this time - no public notice required. I did discuss that treatment is required if the 4 quarter average exceeds the MCL and that an OEL report is required if the pre-cursor 3-quarter determined value exceeds the MCL. Currently OEL is 0.053 mg/L. Scott indicated that Midland just fixed a big leak in the distribution system reducing demand from 100,000 gallons a day to around 38,000 gpd. We discussed that increased organics in the fall in source water can lead to higher DBPs. System hopes to manage chlorine residuals better to bring DBP levels down. ACTION NEEDED: System to continue on quarterly DBP monitoring for both TTHM and HAA5, during second month of the quarter: November, February, May, and August, until further notice. | ||
