Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up to customer complaint DETAILS: I received a call from a customer citing skin irritation issues and stomach aches believed to be due to the discolored and odorous drinking water quality from well supplying the water system. A vet has diagnosed a dog with giardia and attributed it to the water consumed by the animal, further causing concern. I encouraged caller to address concerns directly to the operator of the system. Caller has raised general concerns to the water system contact prevoiusly and has not received adequate resolution. Complains that the operator is not acknowledging the severity of the health complaint and pours chlorine bleach into well ahead of regular water quality sampling. I indicated that DWS has no record of any results of required coliform bacteria or nitrate monitoring submitted by the water system. ACTION NEEDED: Caller will collect a sample of tap water and have it analyzed at a nearby certified lab. I indicated the general coliform bacteria test as a first test for water quality. Caller will await sample results and then communicate concerns again to the water system contact. I provided DWS contact phone number to caller for further questions. |
