Details: | SUMMARY: One of two routine sample collected on 02/01/07 tested positive for Total Coliform. DETAILS: 02/05/07- The positive sample was collected directly from the Engle Well. The operator called me to ask about re-sampling procedure in this situation. I told him that he should collect one sample from the well, one immediately after the UV system (prior to storage) and two in the distribution system (post-storage). We discussed the Coliform Sampling Plan. I advised that in the future routine samples should not be collected prior to UV treatment. Routine samples should be of finished water, as it is known that the wells are frequently Total Coliform Positive. 02/06/07- Repeat sample results- The Engle Well was positive while the three samples collected in the distribution system (post-UV) tested negative for Total Coliform. No action will be necessary as the finished water tested negative. The sample at the well was collected as a special sample as it is not of the finished water and should not determine further action. I called and spoke with Ed Baich about this situation and reminded to collect all routine water samples post-treatment. I will have the five routine samples for February waived. ACTION NEEDED: No further action necessary. |
