Details: | SUMMARY: Lead exceedence / high WQPs DETAILS: Terry called regarding the systems Lead exceedence. She was a little upset about the need for corrosion control. She told me the water quality parameter results they had done on April 19th. The pHs were all around 7.5, and the alkalinity was around 44. She said some previous results were quite a bit lower, but the sample had sat for longer than a day at the lab, so they tested again. I recommended that the system operators do pH testing around the system, and she said that someone had recommended they get a digital pH meter. I said if theyre not using a digital pH meter, they definitely should get one. Given that the water is not obviously corrosive, I suggested they take another round of lead and copper samples at the exact same sites, and make sure its the first draw from water left overnight. She was concerned about the 2 houses with the brand new faucets, but I told her she had to use the same sites. I told her we cannot toss out the previous results, but we can use the next round to help evaulate what the next step should be. She mentioned that theyve never exceeded before, and I explained that water quality can change over time, and this is why they have to monitor on a regular basis. She seemed ok with that. ACTION NEEDED: re-evaluate with new results |
