Details: | SUMMARY: TTHM MCL Exceedence During 1st Quarter 2007 DETAILS: I received an alert on 4/18/2007 for HAA5s collected 2/22/2007. The running annual average as now calculated by the DWP shows TTHM at 0.08075 mg/L, which rounds up to 0.081 mg/L and exceeds the MCL of 0.080 mg/L. The running annual average for HAA5 is 0.06005 mg/L which rounds up to only 0.0601 mg/L and does not exceed the MCL of 0.060 mg/L. As such, a Tier 2 Public Notice must be delivered to customers within 30 days. I emailed John Higgins the notice template and instructions. He will send a copy back to me to get credit for posting. Disinfection profiling is also required. However, given that the system will begin construction on WTP upgrades no later than Fall 2007 (including discontinuing pre-chlorination practices), profiling requirements have been waived. Additional planned WTP upgrades include possible taste/odor removal at the intake, installation of a new flash mixer, installation of tube settlers in the sed basin, addition of air scouring mechanism on the filters, improved plumbing on the contact time chamber, and installation of new storage for customers located uphill of the WTP. In addition, John told me the operators recently completed a total flush of the distribution system, they cleaned a storage tank and made improvements to tank turn-over. John is hoping that these improvements completed after the 2/2007 DBP samples will help with the 2nd qurater sample results. ACTION NEEDED: Await copy of public notice and 2nd quarter 2007 DBP results. Follow-up accordingly. |
