Details: | SUMMARY: Distribution Pressure Problems DETAILS: The City owns and operates a surface water system, which supplies approximately 4,610 people through 1,580 connections. Surface water from multiple sources is treated with rapid sand filters, coagulation and flocculation and is chlorinated before being pumped to the reservoir. Currently City has approximately 60 homes within a subdivision that can have a static water line pressure below 20 psi. With the subdivision built at nearly the same elevation as the reservoir that feeds the homes, the static pressure is very low when the booster pump station is off line. The booster pump station does not have emergency power to maintain system. HBH was contacted by DWP to provide assistance with an investigation of the pressure problems in said subdivision. I provided analysis of bladder tank and generator benefits and behaviors during short term power outages and provided preliminary sizing of bladder tank system to dampen issues. I coordinated with DWP and City staff. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to coordinate with Public Works Staff regarding other on-going issues with pump station. |
