Details: | SUMMARY: Response to May xylene detect DETAILS: Spoke to Dan on 6/22/12 about the 5/22/12 xylene detect at 0.0013 mg/L. Since level is greater than the action level (detection limit) of 0.0005 mg/L, I indicated quarterly monitoring for xylene is required beginning with 3rd quarter 2012. Dan indicated person sampling had just finished fueling vehicle, and that could be likely cause of detect. Given that a confirmation sample at non-detect and assigned a zero value would still result in an average greater than the 0.0005 det. limit when combined with detect of 0.0013, quarterly monitoring would automatically be required. ACTION NEEDED: City to begin quarterly monitoring. DWP to review results after a minimum of 2 quarters to determine if reductions in monitoring frequency to annual are warranted. | ||
