Details: | SUMMARY: CT Tracer Study DETAILS: The City owns and operates a surface water system that provides treated water for domestic purposes to a full-time population of approx. 1650 persons, through 605 connections. The source for the Citys water is an intake on Canyon Cr. The treatment plant is a conventional rapid sand filtration plant w/flocculation and sedimentation chambers. The City currently pre-chlorinates, adding sodium hypochlorite in the flocculation chamber. Following filtration, the additional post chlorination is done to achieve the desired chlorine residual. There were discussions about possibly eliminating the pre-chlorination, but the City does not have adequate contact time without this segment. In addition the system needs the pre-chlorination for treatment purposes.HBH previously completed a tracer study for the City. Daniel Hough requested we perform a second study to isolate the contact time within the two disinfection segments.Proposed a new testing methodology to isolate the disinfection segments. ACTION NEEDED: Complete additional tracer study to isolate the disinfection segments when water quality in Canyon Cr. Is adequate to run the plant at full flow. |
