Details: | SUMMARY: Water System WTP General Evaluation DETAILS: The Weiss Estates Water System is a community surface water system which serves 27 people through 21 connections. The system is located near Bandon in Coos County. The source water is Fahy’s Lake. The raw water is treated by a Seccua membrane water treatment plant. The water system contacted the Circuit Rider to assist with a contact tracer study. This study was prompted by high DBP levels. It was determined by Jay Mcpherson that the next logical step to deal with the high DBP levels is to perform a tracer study. Based on the configuration of the contact vessels, it is apparent that the contact time is sufficient for disinfection. However, the purpose of the test is to determine how much additional contact time exists as this could be a source of the DBPs. In addition to the DBP issue, the water treatment plant is having several operational issues. The plant was constructed in 2011. Previously Coordinated with OHA staff regarding the proper course of action regarding Circuit Rider Technical Assistance. Provided a summary memorandum regarding the issues which were apparent in the site visit. ACTION NEEDED: Determine proper course of action to be taken to both complete tracer testing and address DBPs. |
