Details: | SUMMARY: Loss of pressure due to a faulty fire hydrant DETAILS: Kevin Fear called and informed Drinking Water Services that they had an issue with a fire hydrant valve/cap that caused the water system to shut down the water main to the fire hydrant for repairs. The shut down caused a small portion of the system that serves approximately four connections to loose pressure. Mr. Fear indicated that the water system issued a boil water notice to the four connections and provided bottled water to the customers. The system has since chlorinated the portion of the system that lost pressure, flushed and collected a coliform sample. Since two of the connections are restaurants, DWS notified Scott Kruger at Benton County Environmental Health that the two restaurants are on a boil water notice until the follow-up coliform sample tests absent. ACTION NEEDED: Release the customers from the boil notice if the follow-up coliform samples test absent. If the samples test positive, then the system may need to repeat the shock chlorination, flush and coliform testing until resolved. |
