Details: | SUMMARY: Switching off Bull-Run, onto groundwater supply DETAILS: Due to high turbidity in the Bull Run reservoir (3.5 NTU and rising when they shut it off), the Bureau is no longer putting water from Bull Run into the system. The groundwater pump station is meeting demand 100%. I talked to Kathy about sampling of the groundwater source. She said that when they sampled the groundwater in August, all aquifers were represented at that time. I told her in that case another sample is not required. We clarified the requirement that samples must be representative of what people are being served, and in the case of multiple wells in different aquifers, we would interpret this that as long as all aquifers are represented in the sample, theyre ok. If a sample is taken with only a few aquifers on, and they later use all aquifers, another sample would need to be taken. She will send documentation of all aquifers being used when she sends in the chemical sample results from summertime. They are out sampling the turbidity in the watershed now, but they plan on using groundwater until the turbidity is reliably below 5 NTU. They have issued a press release that they are now using 100% groundwater. |
